Allied Staffing is hiring for a CNC Programmer/ Machinist Trainee job in Blue Springs,MO

Pay Rate: $15/hr

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Location: Blue Springs, MO 64015

Summary: To learn to assist in programming numerical control (NC) and computer numerical control (CNC) machines that automatically mill, punch, drill, or broach metal parts. Assists in converting existing programs from one machine to another, updating set-up sheets, saving updated programs and set-up sheets to DNC. Operates and sets up conventional, special purpose, numerical control (NC) machines, computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to manufacture parts from order specifications. Emphasis is on learning machining practices and techniques that will provide the opportunity to further overall operational skills. Materials for parts used may include ordinary and alloy steel, stainless steel, brass and other metals in the form of sheet metal, round bar, forging, and castings.

This person will be responsible for:

  • Trains with programmers in leaning to create new, and modify existing programs according to standard practice instructions (SPI)
  • Assists in backing up records to DNC for new and modified programs according to standard practice instructions (SPI)
  • Assists in verifying availability of tooling and fixtures required by CNC programs. Initiates requests for purchased and manufactured tooling and fixtures. Confers with purchasing and the Tool and Die Supervisor on scheduling and receiving tooling and fixtures
  • Trains with programmers to learn Espirit Software for programming purposes on machinery, including multi-axis machines
  • Watches tutorials on Espirit Software to learn to utilize the software for future programming
  • Trains with Production Supervisors and Programmers in creating new item master routings for machined items or other new items requiring CNC programming
  • Assists in auditing work orders for modified work order routings, item mater routings, routing changes, saw lengths and program numbers
  • Studies blue prints, sketches, drawings manuals, specification or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and set up requirements
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media
  • Operates and sets up all types of machine tools and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines

  • Operates and sets up machine for trial run according to job order specifications to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and makes simple to complex adjustments
  • Lifts, moves, clamps and bolts dies and fixtures on machines. Brushes or blows dirt from dies. Fills tanks and oil cups with lubricants. Removes machined parts and scrap from machines
  • Files, grinds, or scrapes sharp edges, burrs, scales or rust from machined parts
  • Conducts in process inspection. Utilizes precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly. Verifies dimensions and alignments of assembly
  • Deburrs and cleans machined parts. Grinds and/or sharpens cutting tools: drill bits, brazed tips and carbine inserts. Cleans work area, tools, equipment
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel or others to learn to resolve machining or assembly problems
  • Makes adjustments to adhere to job specifications
  • Completes all required work order reporting and documentation
  • Adheres to safety practices and procedures
  • Follows procedures as defined by company policies
  • Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment: The employee is occasionally exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Training certificate from a technical college or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years’ experience as a fully operational set up and run machinist
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, work orders and engineered drawings
  • Ability to use shop mathematics
  • Exposure to NC and CNC machinery programming
  • Computer aptitude and working knowledge of CAD and CAM software


  • Exposure to JD Edwards systems
