Mission Foods is hiring for a Press Operator job in Tempe,AZ

GRUMA Corporation is a growing part of a much larger, multinational organization, Gruma Corporation.

We are looking for a talented people for our MISSION FOODS USA .

Brief Summary

Operates Production lines in accordance with work instructions and daily schedule to produce quality product made within established specifications.

Job Responsibilities

Produces tortillas within the specified quality requirements.

For the corn department:

Starts up equipment, turn ovens on, sets computer panel for maseca flow.

Sprays silicon on slabs –oven.

Turns on the water with maseca and acid.

Checks cutting wires and plastic rings.

Monitors baking process and tortilla appearance at all times.

Prepares to make product changes as needed as informed by Lead.

Performs changeovers from White Maseca to Yellow Maseca shutting down the silo and starting up the dump station system (PIAB).

Dumps maseca in bags when using dump station system (PIAB).

Repairs / replaces cutting wires as needed (repair / replace time (5-10) minutes).

Monitors and calibrates preservative added according to Quality Plan

Prepares to make product changes as needed as informed by Lead.

Removes all trash and sweep as necessary to maintain production area clean during and after shift.

Performs cleaning between changeovers as necessary

Reprocess no-conformance product acceptable for reprocessing.

End of Shift-disconnects machinery, stores tools appropriately, shuts down gas in ovens.

Empties Kemin barrels as needed.

Receives information from management on the product to be produced and follows production schedule as indicated by Lead or Supervisor.

Maintains product weight within specifications.

Properly fills out all records and reports, in accordance with applicable work instructions.

Verifies equipment is in good working condition; communicates to management any deficiencies noted.

Provides suggestions to improve process, procedures and department in support of company goals

Follows Company, GMP and Safety policies to ensure compliance with the HACCP program and AIB gold standard.

Follows all food safety principles and legal requirements

Maintains a positive and constructive work environment within the department as well as with other departments and promotes teamwork.

Works in a safe manner, observing all safety requirements.

Participates in monthly departmental meetings.

Must work various shifts and hours including holidays and weekends.

Other duties, as assigned.


High School Diploma, GED or equivalent


Desire to Learn

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Ability to read/write
